@Robert, Yes, the flashmeeting was absolutely wonderful! Too bad you couldn't have been there - I would have loved to have "met" you. : ) I'm thinking about putting together another one, since I was told that they used to happen regularly.

I guess you're right....a part of the world you're not familiar with would seem exotic. And of course to me it feels quite the opposite. I think that's something we've got to remember.

So fantastic you've been inspired to post! I've just finished watching the playback of the Vlog Europe flash meeting. What a superb bunch of people. Deeply inspiring. And here's the proof. Lauren gives us a beautiful glimpse of Philadelphia life. How exotic those streets appear to me. As always, a privilege to view your work in all its forms. More of your world, please... :)

@cheryl - Thanks! Can't wait to see your video. I think the kitties were eating Crazy Right-Wing Republi-In-A-Can.

I encountered a lot of people who defied stereotypes, but also some people who were a bit hostile and bigoted, and it was unsettling.

Lovely, Lauren! Mine will be up tomorrow. What the heck were those kitties eating? It looked strange!

Mike's the man to ask. He sold his HV20 recently because it was too big - he's got himself a Xacti HD - check out his vlog for details. I believe they all have an in-camera editor in them, but I haven't used it and I bet it's not as good as the Nokia editor. Even with that, I frequently transfer to my Mac and cut in iMovie if there are more than a few simple cuts. And if there's sync sound - the Nokia editor throws sync out after a few clips. On the other hand, there's something incredibly satisfying and futuristic about cutting together a nice simple sequence in your phone and sending it right off.

@rupert - A little thing - but it made me smile to read "I know you like to do that". Nice to know someone's watched enough to notice something like that. And you're right of course - I do rather <3 rack focus.

Ideally I'd like to have two cameras - one suited for mobile stuff that I always have with me, and one that's a more "serious" camera for when I want control, or to use for gigs that require it. Like an HV20, or DVX if I want to splurge (I've been saving but have yet to purchase any new equipment).

Thanks for the recommendations. There are a lot of Xacti models - it's a bit daunting choosing one. Do they all edit in-cam, do you know?

What you gain in portability & ease, you lose in control. So you wouldn't be able to throw focus like you did here. I know you like to do that. And the colors on a N93 are not so good. (though the Xacti E1 has better picture than most small cameras).
But what good is it to have a camera that gives you total control if you never use it to share anything?
Go for it. I recommend the E1 from B&H with their warranty. Just don't immerse it in water. It's not quite as waterproof as they make out.

@mike mooon - Thanks!

@david - Thanks to you for the kick in the pants. Yes, I got a lot of footage of the fountain that I cut out - I'm thinking of combining it with some other abstract footage I have in another piece. I'm intrigued by abstractions of everyday things, and light/shadow/color interplay.

@rupert - Thanks. I tried to "keep it simple, stupid!" Now, yes, the trick is to keep going. I'm looking into getting an N93 or Xacti to get me more mobile - this was done with a still SLR camera. Not the most conducive to carrying around all the time.

YAY! The sights and sounds, simply cut. Fantastic. This is what it's all about. Glad the meeting today got you through the classic vlogger block. Now keep going!

Great stuff! Thank for posting this today :)

That fountain could have been a study all alone.
